"If I needed money, I wouldn't sell $5 t-shirts," Bey's father said in a local news interview.

Beyonce's father and former manager, Mathew Knowles, held a garage sale in Houston on Tuesday (Dec. 23) in which he sold some of his superstar daughter's old merchandise, including outdated t-shirts, CDs and concert DVDs.

According to local news affiliate Click 2 Houston, Knowles set up shop outside of his Music World Entertainment offices in midtown Houston. Although the 63-year-old manager/producer estimated that the sale would net him around $2,000, he bristled at the idea that he was in dire need of cash three years after Beyonce released him as her manager.

"If I needed money, I wouldn't sell $5 t-shirts," said Knowles. "I'd sell a Grammy or an MTV award. No, I don't think so."

Instead, Knowles hopes to expand the Music World Entertainment complex in Houston within the next five years, and setting up a new studio where the garage sale was held. Knowles did not know how he would spend the profits made from the garage sale.
