Rocker Bob Seger is cruising for his tenth top 10 album with his latest release,Ride On. Industry forecasters suggest the set, released on Oct. 14 through Hideout/Capitol Records, may sell around 55,000 copies in the week ending Oct. 19. That should be enough to secure the album the second-highest entry on the chart, following the presumed No. 1 debut: Florida Georgia Line's newAnything Goes (selling around 190,000 or so).
The new Billboard 200’s top 10 will be revealed on Oct. 22.
Seger debuted on the chart a little over 45 years ago with Ramblin' Gamblin' Man (credited to Bob Seger System), and has notched a total of 18 entries in his career. He topped the list with 1980's Against the Wind, spending seven weeks atop the chart. His last studio album, 2006’s Face the Promise, debuted and peaked at No. 4.
Following Seger, look for You+Me's debut set, Rose Ave., to start with just under 50,000. You+Me is the first effort from the duo of pop superstar Pink and singer/songwriter Dallas Green (who performs under the stage name City and Colour).
Other albums that should enter the top 10 next week for the first time: Hoodie Allen's People Keep Talking (30,000 or so), The Game's Blood Moon: Year of the Wolf (25,000 to 30,000) and U2's Songs of Innocence (25,000).
On SoundScan's Building chart (below), Florida Georgia Line is No. 1, followed by Jason Aldean's current Billboard 200 champ, Old Boots, New Dirt. The Building tally is a precursor to the final Billboard 200 ranking — reflecting the first four days (Monday through Thursday) of SoundScan's tracking week as reported by six major merchants.
As for the rest of the Building chart’s top 10, You+Me is No. 3, Hoodie Allen is No. 4, Seger is No. 5 and Sam Smith's In the Lonely Hour is No. 6. The Game stands at No. 7, with Barbra Streisand's Partners at No. 8 and Jessie J'sSweet Talker at No. 9. Jessie J's album could finish the week with around 20,000 to 25,000, which might not be enough to reach the Billboard 200's top 10. Milky Chance's new release, Sadnecessary closes out the Building chart’s top 10, though, like Jessie J’s new album, it may not debut in the top 10 on the Billboard 200 (it could sell around 15,000).
